First Post!

Reading and writing go hand in hand! As adults, we can read and write fluently and much of what we are doing in our brain when we read and write is in the subconscious. This makes teaching reading difficult, especially for the novice teacher who had little training on what to do when they have a struggling reader or writer.  This site is for those who have ever struggled to teach reading or writing in the classroom! I will offer tips, tricks, and ideas to help turn all your students into successful confidant readers and writers. As well as vent my own struggles that I'm sure many can relate too.

I'm in my fifth year of teaching first grade, and am working towards my masters of arts and teaching curriculum with a reading specialist degree. I am by no means an expert, but I plan on sharing what I wish people would have shared with me my first year teaching! Please feel free to leave any comments or ideas that have helped your struggling readers and writers as well.
